proprioception:
the ability of the body to know
where it’s parts are in space
without ongoing conscious thought
—
mist is like grief
its translucency
pulses
into relief
that which
is not easily seen
now
disentangled from
all else
holding in focus
a portal
to and from a wild place
yet as it does
the mist recedes
how easy it is to forget
the wild we have
glimpsed
wrap it around your body
wrap your body around it
it is your nest
and your are its
nest
incubate this deep
thing
this wild thing
birthed in mist and grief
it is the fullness of your life
it is all life
living in you
being inside mist
is being
inside grief
we are left
with only that
which is close
compacted
against
our being
pressed inward
filling crevices
we knew not
misty pressure
pushing
against our body
imprinting
like a tattoo
something forever
something
that fills your
heart space
something
that wells up
through your throat
something
that must be lived
no longer
a hidden thing
this imprint
now exposed
like an image
developed
onto photographic paper
onto you
onto me
this thing
must speak
its love into
the world
no more silence
this misty tattoo
a hushed wild voice
from all time
leading us
into dance
over dark ground
over rough ground
ground we had forgot
till now
how
to inhabit
as we learn to dance
as we coevolve
with mist
and grief
and wild
we find
ourselves to be
disassembled
and remade
in wild love
propriocepting
devotion to
all life
